Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq.
Executive Director, Lands and Mines Watch
Kwame Owusu Danso (Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso) is a prominent Ghanaian private legal practitioner, social activist, and the Executive Director of Lands and Mines Watch. He gained widespread political prominence when he served as the vice-presidential running mate to independent candidate Alan Kyerematen under the Movement for Change (M4C) alliance.
Nii Kwartei Kojo Owoo is a lawyer admitted as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Ghana and professionally qualified through the Solicitors qualification pathway in England and Wales. He is the Managing Partner of Africa Law Focus PRUC, where he leads the firm’s practice in mining, energy, and natural resource law, advising investors, mining companies, and project developers on the legal and regulatory framework governing resource development in Ghana and across Africa.
His work focuses on mineral rights, mining leases, regulatory compliance, project structuring, and resource-based financing. With over a decade of prior experience in the banking sector, he brings strong insight into project finance, investment structuring, and risk management in the extractive industries.
Mr. Owoo holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics from the University of Ghana, an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London, and an LL.M. from the University of South Wales (UK). He also holds a Barrister-at-Law (BL) certificate from the Ghana School of Law and certification in Managing Risk in Project Finance from the Ghana Banking College.

Acheampong Baafi-Adomako serves as the Policy and Governance Director at Lands and Mines Watch Ghana. With a professional background in Atmospheric Physics, GIS and Remote Sensing, Engineering and Technology Innovation, he brings a strong scientific and policy-oriented perspective to environmental governance, climate resilience, and extractive sector advocacy.
His work focuses on strengthening policy engagement, institutional accountability, environmental compliance, and sustainable resource management while advocating for responsible mining practices and community-centered development. He is passionate about using climate and environmental science, geospatial technologies, and data-driven research to support evidence-based policymaking, environmental protection, and improved governance within Ghana’s extractive industry. Through his leadership, he contributes to advancing citizen participation, transparency, and sustainable development initiatives that promote both environmental integrity and socioeconomic progress.
Director of Projects and Operations at Lands and Mines Watch Ghana (LMWG)
Derrick Ekow Sam is a broadcast journalist and media strategist with over sixteen years of experience in media, communication, and public engagement. He serves as Director of Projects and Operations at Lands and Mines Watch Ghana (LMWG) and Lead Producer of Prime Morning and News Desk on JoyNews and Joy Prime TV.
Godfred Essel serves as the Creative Director at Lands and Mines Watch Ghana (LMWG), where he leads the organization’s visual and brand communications strategy. He is responsible for shaping and maintaining a cohesive brand identity, overseeing creative direction across all platforms, and delivering compelling visual storytelling that supports the organization’s advocacy and stakeholder engagement efforts.
With a background in graphic design and brand communications, he brings a strategic and detail-oriented approach to translating complex ideas into clear, impactful messages that resonate with diverse audiences.
Media Liaison Director, Lands and Mines Watch Ghana
Ibrahim Alhassan is a passionate media practitioner with over a decade of experience in reporting on politics, economy, environment and social issues. He believes in making the best out of every situation in the interest of the masses. He is a strong advocate for equitable distribution of the country's resources. Mr. Alhassan has vowed to work through the Lands and Mines Watch Ghana to safeguard the interest of Ghana in the extractive sector and beyond.
